On October 11, a tribute to Ho Chi Minh, also known as Uncle Ho, was held at UNESCO.

Ho Chi Minh's youth was characterized by his travels around the world, which helped him discover communist ideas. He devoted himself to the cause of anti-colonialism in France, spent time in the Soviet Union, completed his political training there and returned to Asia. He became the founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930 and played a central and active role in Vietnam's independence from 1941, before becoming the first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and gaining international recognition in 1954.

Throughout his career, Ho Chi Minh developed an ideology distinct from Russian and Chinese communism, with which he sometimes clashed. His ideas continue to inspire politicians and individuals in Vietnam today, where he is the subject of a veritable cult of personality. Vietnam's most populous city, originally named Saigon, was renamed Ho Chi Minh City (Thành Phố Hồ Chí Minh) in 1975.

Our President was present and was able to meet the Vietnamese ambassador and the spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Here are some pictures of the evening.
